Location:  1 x Portsmouth Investigation Centre & 1 x Basingstoke Investigation Centre  1 x Southampton Investigation Centre
                

Contract :  Temporary for 12 months

  

Salary: Scale 5, £29,109 - £31,296 per annum 

  

Hours: 37 hours per week

Job Purpose

To assist the force implementation lead in managing the day-to-day 
operation in regards drug testing within the custody environment


Key Accountabilities include but are not limited to


1. To support Custody staff with processes and procedures offering 
advice, guidance and feedback where necessary. To give appropriate 
training to new and existing staff, both internal and external and to 
maintain and forge a strong collaborative working relationship with them 
(CPS, CJU, Investigation departments, treatment provides / Probation 
etc.)

2. You will maintain a professional relationship with a range of external 
partners including assisting and supporting other forces. You will assist 
and coordinate referral workers in custody and maintain a grip of 
assessments outside of custody including out of force assessments.

3. Where possible and time permitting you will assist custody staff in 
completing any outstanding drug tests on detainees. You will facilitate any 
custody-based assessments of detainees by Substance misuse workers, 
escorting and facilitating a suitable room.

4. You will regularly review all custody whiteboards and detainees looking 
to identify missed opportunities for testing and prompt staff in doing so 
including Inspector authorisations.

5. You will conduct data searches and monitor for compliance through 
RMS to identify errors and mistakes. You will maintain a record 
accordingly and offer feedback to relevant staff and where possible you 
will rectify and address any errors.

6. You will manage the drugs testing mailbox and deal with enquiries in a 
timely and efficient manner. You will update our records accordingly in 
particular from partners sending in referral documents and Laboratory test 
results

Essential Qualifications

Educated to QCF Level 2 (5 passes) or to have undertaken 
work experience deemed to have brought the postholder to a 
comparable level

Essential Experience

Experience of working within a Custody environment and or 
an investigative background with regular interaction with 
Custody centres.

 Excellent communication skills

 Excellent planning and organisation skills.

 Ability to work as part of a team or individually

 Flexibility regarding working location
