Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary are looking for our next Head of Resource Management – a critical and strategic role in planning resources for the Force, leading a team of 40+ police staff.
About the Role
As Head of Resource Management, it will be your responsibility to ensure sufficient Officers and Staff are rostered on duty to meet demands. This includes reviewing shift patterns and flexible working arrangements, and managing abstractions from duties.
This role will involve extensive collaboration with other senior leaders across the force. You will be expected to report regularly to strategic boards and lead on planning, analysis and performance data in relation to resource management. It will be the role holder’s responsibility to manage the department’s budget and expenditure.
Reporting directly to the Head of Corporate Insights, you will also become a key member of the command senior leadership team and be expected to support wider corporate activity. You will also be expected to undertake 1st and 2nd line manager responsibilities to all staff under your command.
The role holder will also be the business owner of the duties software system. Working alongside ICT colleagues, maximising the capability of the software will form a significant part of the role.

What does our ideal candidate look like?
As Head of Department, strong leadership skills are essential, along with the ability to form and maintain relationships at all levels. You will have experience of solving complex problems with the confidence to make tough decisions. We are also looking for you to be able to create and present strategic reports/presentations and negotiate effectively.
We do not expect candidates to have experiencing using our in-house software system, however, you should have the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new software programmes and feel confident in contributing towards project work surrounding any upgrade of a new system.
Essential Qualification: Educated to QCF Level 7 in a management related field or work experience deemed to have brought the post holder to a comparable level.
