About Us:

The Adult Social care team in Westminster City Council is a world of extraordinary stories.

We love it when our work touches lives.

Take Stepping to the Beat, our 3k walk, jog or run for people with learning or physical disabilities or Autism, their families and carers.

It’s a life-affirming, music-based event Coreen and Claudia are massively proud of – and they were keen for people to spread the word.

So, imagine how thrilled they were when one of our residents, Giro, did just that. Advocating for people with disabilities at a planning meeting for transport in London, he was proudly wearing his event medal. And he decided to use it to encourage others. As he passed it around the room, Giro inspired lots more people with disabilities to get involved. Infectious enthusiasm goes a long way here.

The Role:

As a Social Worker for our Hospital Step-Down team, you can make your own powerful contribution to greater understanding and empathy. Working with colleagues across different disciplines, you will look after vulnerable adults and older people, ensuring they have all the support they need as they are discharged from hospital.  It’s an opportunity to work autonomously but with regular supervision. And, by jointly assessing needs and liaising with colleagues in the wider care network, you’ll quickly build on your own knowledge and skills.

Full COVID-19 vaccination status will be required as a condition of employment. Recent legislation now mandates that anyone working in a CQC registered care home, which includes all regulated services in WCC Care,  and those visiting in a professional capacity, must be fully vaccinated (MHRA approved) by 11 November 2021.

Please refer to the Job Description for more information.

About You:

A qualified and registered social worker, nurse or occupational therapist, you’ll have experience of a local authority or health setting. This should include working with older or physically disabled people and a proven commitment to the principles of personalisation, independence and choice.  Your excellent communication skills (ideally including a second language alongside English) will be matched by your ability to work as part of a flexible, multidisciplinary team.
