About Us:

Here at Westminster City Council, we’re delighted to say that we are the proud protectors of London’s best borough. That may sound like an exaggerated claim, but with Big Ben, Piccadilly Circus, Covent Garden, China Town and Little Venice on our doorstep – to name but a few – we’re spoilt for choice. As such, it’s fair to say that this dynamic corner of London is exceptional. From the casinos in Knightsbridge to the colourful bars and pubs dotted across Soho, the borough offers a 24/7 way of life that caters to every taste. But Westminster is also home to a diverse population who have the right to a peaceful residential experience.

The Role:

Working within the reach of the Public Protection & Licensing team, you will be an ambassador to both the public and licensed premises, ensuring they are able to coexist happily and investigating any complaints. Taking enforcement action when necessary, you will monitor a full range of licenses (from gambling to MST’s) and licensing issues. You will also monitor and undertake investigations under the Environmental Protection Act 1990, to keep the streets and local environment clear of waste, litter, and other local environmental quality issues. There are currently 11 posts available within the team.

Please ensure you explain how you meet the role requirements, as specified in the job description, for your application to be considered.

About You:

These roles are hugely reactive, and will be reliant on you being out and about in all weathers. You will be gathering intelligence, exercising enforcement powers and promoting expected standards. We will therefore expect you to have an enforcement background, with a good knowledge of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act. With experience of finding solutions to complex issues, this is a place where you will enjoy a great deal of autonomy and access to career-defining projects. Amongst the illustrious backdrop of iconic London neighbourhoods, this is a career move you won’t regret.

What We Offer:

If you’re as productive as you are ambitious and collaborative as you are enterprising, this is your chance to take real ownership of your work, right in the heart of iconic Westminster, a true ‘City for All’. This is a unique place where it all happens. And where it could all happen for you. As a progressive and innovative organisation, we welcome applications from candidates keen to work in an agile environment with flexible conditions.
