The Role:

Based in the grounds of the Grade I listed Holland Park, you will be part of the Council’s Parks Team, who have responsibility for 28 parks, two cemeteries and over 60 additional green spaces. This role is of operational importance to the management of the Council’s green space portfolio; as one of two Parks Officers, each covering a different geographical area, you will lead on contract monitoring, compliance and maintenance for your section, maintaining high-standards and working with the communities, colleagues and contractors on green space improvements.
You will lead on small works and asset management in your area and will also undertake a client role on capital improvement projects such as whole park renovation projects, the creation of new park buildings and playground improvements.
Working with the Ecology Team you will assist with biodiversity improvements, volunteer programmes and community projects. You will be involved in events in parks logistics and income generation. You will also lead on Green Flag Award entries, producing management plans and policy documents to help guide the management of our green spaces for the future.

About You:

You will be adaptable and customer-focused with a drive to improve and develop parks and green spaces for the long term. With a passion for green space and the natural environment you will be able to demonstrate a history of working with community groups and stakeholders,
forging positive relationships.

Role Requirements:

To monitor performance of the grounds maintenance contract (and other contracts) within the Royal Borough’s parks and open spaces. To help manage, develop and enhance the specification, monitoring and contract processes for parks. To contribute to the provision of a customer focused quality park service.
To develop park management plans and identify improvements and proposals for change to park strategies. 

 

We work in partnership with Hampshire County Council (HCC) who deliver many transactional services on our behalf. Although most communications will be from HCC, all selection and appointment decisions will be made by RBKC. Certain services are shared across more than one Council area to nearby neighbouring Authorities. This enhances delivery and reduces costs.
