This department is responsible for housing, communities and improving the lives of local residents.  This includes landlord services and estate management, planning, refurbishment, and advice and support to help maintain healthy and safe homes.
A significant part of our work is focused on creating stronger communities, by working together with local residents on recovery following the Grenfell tragedy.  


In response to London’s affordable homes crisis, we are committed to building more social housing to help people on lower incomes to live, work, and raise their families in the borough. Our housing team also work closely with affordable housing providers and other agencies to manage homelessness and give support to older residents to live independently.

The Role:

You will lead the Estates and Environmental service by developing high performing and motivated teams with a strong emphasis on customer service.


You will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining a safe, clean and high-quality external environment
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, data governance, regulatory standards, internal processes and protocols, and in particular health and safety provisions
  • Effective contract management and securing VFM
  • Delivering the environmental improvement programme

About You:

You’ll lead the Estates and Environmental service, ensuring that estates are clean and safe, and that high standards of cleaning and grounds maintenance are achieved.

 

A motivational leader, you’ll embed a performance culture, leading to top quartile performance and high levels of customer satisfaction.

 

You’ll use your specialist knowledge to provide professional advice and to mitigate risks. 

 

You’ll have an impressive track record of working with residents to deliver service improvements and be able to find innovative solutions.
 

Role Requirements:
  • Degree level qualification or equivalent/ evidence of continuing professional development.
  • Experience of managing an environmental and estates services in a social housing context.
  • Experience of procurement and managing contracts.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience of managing teams at a senior level.
  • Thorough knowledge of RIDDOR and COSHH provisions as well as Health & Safety at Work legislation.

 

 

We work in partnership with Hampshire County Council (HCC) who deliver many transactional services on our behalf. Although most communications will be from HCC, all selection and appointment decisions will be made by RBKC. Certain services are shared across more than one Council area to nearby neighbouring Authorities. This enhances delivery and reduces costs.
