Salary range: £16,495 - £16,626 pro-rata, per annum

Work location: Hailey school, Witney

Hours per week: 25 - Work pattern Monday to Friday 6.30 – 8.30 a.m.  & 3.30 – 6.30 p.m.

Contract type: Permanent (Term time only for 42 weeks)

We are looking for a part-time cleaner to join a friendly school and be a part of a wider team.


Duties involve general cleaning of classrooms, corridors, school hall, offices, toilets and staff room; and cleaning outside areas. You will be provided with latest equipment to enhance the effectiveness of clean and use eco-friendly chemicals. Full training will be given, and uniform will be supplied.


In this role, you will be paid last day of every month. You will also be able to join a pension scheme. The role is subject to 6 months’ probationary period. As this is a term time only role, all holidays are to be taken when the school is closed.

Job Purpose:

To clean, carry out janitorial tasks and secure OCC buildings in such a way that the building is cleaned to the agreed specification, is locked secured and alarmed correctly and the janitorial tasks are completed to the satisfaction of the site manager.

This post holder is responsible for ensuring that all relevant County policies and procedures are adhered to and concerns are raised in accordance with these policies

Role Responsibilities:

  • Carry out cleaning to the standards required by Oxfordshire County Council, and the cleaning specification to include:

a. Suction cleaning of carpeted areas

b. Mop sweeping of hard floors

c. Damp mopping of hard floors as required

d. Clean toilet areas (wc, urinals, washbasins etc) wet mop floors daily

e. General dusting to include desks, furniture, chairs and ledges

f. Machine buff (if trained) hard floors as necessary

g. High level dusting (appropriate equipment will be supplied)                

  • Ensure that equipment is used and stored in the appropriate manner
  • Ensure that cleaning materials are ordered, used correctly to the manufactures recommendations and stored appropriately
  • Report any incidents of damage or vandalism to the site manager, caretaker or supervisor
  • Undergo ‘on the job’ training to develop a high level of cleaning skills
  • Carry out all duties with due regard to Health & Safety in all matters 
  • To lock, unlock and secure the building and set the alarm as required
  • Any other task that is appropriate in the cleaning of the establishment e.g. making sure consumable products are topped up
  • Ensure that you sign in and out of each location signing in book on a daily basis
  • Wear your Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) provided
