About us:

Adopt Thames Valley is a new Regional Adoption Agency, and the participating local authorities are Oxfordshire, Swindon, Reading, West Berkshire, Wokingham, Bracknell, and Windsor & Maidenhead.

About the role:

This post will be mainly based in Swindon, but is part of the Oxfordshire and Swindon team, and part of the wider RAA. Although most of the cases will involve prospective adopters and children living in the Swindon area, there will be some cases elsewhere in the region and sometimes in neighbouring counties. The post holder will need to attend supervision and team meetings in the Oxford office.
This is an exciting time to work in the adoption service, as we develop initiatives to place more children with adoptive families.

About you:

We are looking for an applicant who has experience and/or a genuine interest in this area of work and who can demonstrate this in their application and interview if selected for interview.

The work involves getting to know about the children who need adoption, meeting them, their social workers and foster carers, and then proactively seeking out an adoptive family for them. It also involves recruiting, training, assessing and supporting prospective adoptive parents up until the child is formally adopted. There is a Permanence Support Team in Adopt Thames Valley who provide post order support.

The Team is a hard-working and supportive team, who are very committed to adoption work. This is an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in adoption to gain some experience, and share their perspective and experience with us. Anyone working for Oxfordshire interested in this post as a secondment would need to speak with their own line manager.
