Hours per week: 37 - we are open to discussions about flexible working

Oxfordshire County Council have recently established a new Direct Payments Advice Service, supporting Adults and Children’s Social Care and Health Direct Payment recipients. The new Direct Payment Advice Team is on hand for all Direct Payment related guidance. This is an exciting opportunity for the right people to make an impact for our colleagues and our residents.

About the role


We have an exciting opportunity for a Direct Payment Advisor to join us in our new Direct Payment Advice team. You’ll be that person who is passionate about Direct Payments and always on the lookout for ways to do things better; more creatively, maximising on opportunities for choice, control and flexibility empowering others to build on their strengths and fulfil their potential. 



About you


You’ll need to be proactive and organised, be able to keep multiple plates spinning, and take a proactive role in your team to achieve key objectives. You will need to be adaptable, flexible and able to maintain personal resilience in response to competing priorities. You’ll be liaising with members of the public, partners and colleagues across Oxfordshire from different organisations. It is key that you can provide great customer service and have an aptitude for working collaboratively with colleagues and partners in problem solving and making informed and insightful decisions.


We are looking for candidates with:

  • Relevant experience of delivering Advice & Guidance (preferably within Direct Payments)
  • Knowledge and understanding of the range of Direct Payment regulations and guidance across Adults & Childrens’ Social Care and Health.
  • Knowledge and understanding of employment legislation, health and social care statutory guidance for Direct payments, health and safety in the workplace


You will be accountable for;

  • Providing advice and guidance to members of the public and colleagues in the area of  Direct Payments.
  • Ensuring that all Direct Payments are set up in line with relevant legislation and local policy
  • Being proactive in identifying and escalating fraud


Professional Qualifications;

  • GCSE level English & Maths A-C, or equivalent
