Salary range: £19,312 -  £20,092 pro rata, per annum (actual salary £8,351 - £8,688 per annum)

Vetting requirements: A DBS check is not required, but specific clearance conducted by HM Prison Service is required as part of pre-employment checks.

 

About us

 

Located between Henley and Wallingford, HMP Huntercombe is a Category 'C' adult male establishment holding a solely foreign national population. The prison is operated by HMPS and has a capacity of 480 men all of whom are in the last three years of their sentence. 

 

About the role

 

Although we are currently working under Covid19 restrictions, our post Covid19 regime requires Customer Service Advisers to work shifts covering from 08:30 to 19:00 hrs, five days a week. The service users have access timetabled access to the library, and we service over 400 visits per week. During their visit the service users have access to a stand-alone computer, national and international newspapers, they can also loan from a wide range of fiction and non-fiction books covering 36 languages and DVD's covering 37 languages, they can also access inter library loans for a small cost. 

 

In this highly rewarding role you will assist the Library Manager in providing excellent, customer focused reading, lending and information services to the service users and staff at HMP Huntercombe. This involves encouraging a love of reading, the use of books and providing and promoting information services and fostering literacy within a prison environment.
