Hours per week: 37 - we are open to discussions about flexible working 

Contract type: Fixed-term contracts for 12 months (F&W) or 7 months (D&H)

Our new approach


Family Solutions Plus will be comprised of locality-based multi-disciplinary teams of professionals, including specialist adult practitioners, working together to support children and their families. Our new teams bring together Social Workers, Children’s Practitioners, and adult mental health, substance misuse and domestic abuse workers to work collaboratively to achieve best outcomes for children and families.


Motivational interviewing is at the heart of our new model - we are committed to engaging families using a strength-based, solution-focused approach. Our practice model will use a single structured ‘workbook’ approach to assess parents’ ‘capacity for change’, reducing the volume of recording for social workers.


All practitioners will participate in regular group supervision led by managers, so that risk is assessed, tackled and owned collectively.


The development of our new FSP teams has created a number of vacancies. We are looking for Social Workers, Team Managers and Assistant Team Managers to join us and help shape and deliver our teams; it’s a really exciting time to join us!



About the role


We’re looking for Assistant Team Managers to support Team Managers with developing and leading our Family Solutions Plus teams.


As an Assistant Team Manager, you’ll help to lead a multi-disciplinary team comprised of specialist adult workers as well as children’s social workers, to tackle parental difficulties as a means of increasing parenting capacity.


As someone with strong communication skills, you’ll build successful working relationships both within your own team and across the service, as well as with other professionals to help shape, develop and deliver services effectively.


You’ll co-ordinate and monitor assessment activity within the team and ensure that practice standards and timescales are always met. Your own standards of practice will be consistently high, and you will work with the child at the centre of all that you do.


You will play a key role in improving practice in the team and you’ll ensure that  the quality of assessments and plans in the team are consistently good; you’ll do this by coaching and supervising social work staff, leading team discussions and workshops, and updating the team on practice developments and research.


A Social Work Qualification and registration with Social Work England are essential for this role.
