Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service is recruiting two Fire Safety Inspectors and a Fire Safety Assessor to join their highly skilled Protection Team to enforce the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order across the county. The roles are pivotal in helping the organisation to ensure a safe community for the people of Oxfordshire.

As a Fire Safety Inspector, you will visit various locations across Oxfordshire, making decisions and exercising the powers conveyed upon you, to prevent fires, protect people, and essentially save lives. All applicants should have experience of operating as a fire safety advisor or inspecting officer. Whilst it is preferable that you have experience as an enforcing officer within a UK Fire & Rescue Service, this is not essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing fire safety advice and guidance to businesses.
  • Auditing premises in simple/ complex/ and licensed/ regulated buildings to assess the standard of their general fire precautions.
  • Fire Safety Inspectors will take formal and informal action, including serving Enforcement Notices and Prohibition Notices where appropriate. The Fire Safety Assessor will be expected to take informal action up to and including agreed action plans.
  • Evaluating premises and their contents to identify if they pose a hazard to fire fighters during emergency incidents.
  • Working closely with other regulatory bodies to support them in the application of their legislation.
