Are you a highly motivated and organised data protection and/or risk management specialist looking for your next career move?

Here at the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC), we are looking for a Data Protection and Risk Officer, who will be responsible for managing our data protection responsibilities alongside our risk management strategy. A highly influential role this position plays an integral part in providing advice, guidance and training to all staff in support of the Commissioner.
Reporting to the Head of Legal and Governance you will be responsible for providing ongoing advice and guidance to ensure the organisation is legally and procedurally compliant with data protection legislation and operating within a culture of corporate risk management. You will support the Head of Legal and Governance with management information and using your professional judgement only escalating matters where necessary.
As a highly organised individual, with a passion for collaborative and partnership working, you will be required to work professionally and confidently with others, possessing excellent communication skills in order to engage positively with your stakeholders. You will be required to demonstrate this through regular contact with the Commissioner, Chief of Staff, senior officers and police staff, applying the appropriate level of sensitivity to your audience or subject matter.
Whilst having no direct line management you will demonstrate leadership in your responsibilities through positive promotion of data protection and risk management processes to create a culture that considers these themes across all business.
Ideally the successful candidate will have good skills and experience across both areas of responsibility. However, applicants should not be deterred if they are stronger in one area as long as a willingness and ability to develop further can be demonstrated.
You will benefit from a generous employment package including a competitive annual leave entitlement, local government pension and flexible working opportunities.
