We are seeking project managers with either M&E design & installation or general building refurbishment experience who are enthusiastic and well organised individuals to support the Corporate Facilities Management team in delivering a customer focused, proactive and high-quality management service across the civic portfolio. You will be responsible for a wide range of project works: installation of new security gates, roofing, retrofit building fitouts, retrofit renewable assets to major refurbishment works of listed buildings. You will work interacting closely with team members in undertaking surveying, review and assess the condition of the Council's Corporate Building Structures and associated fabric replacements/refurbishments at the end of economic life or as a result of changing operation requirements.

 

The post holder(s) will be responsible for the specification, tendering and project management of the remedial/refurbishment works, and such project works as directed by line management.

 

Be responsible for preparing budgets, monitoring costs, preparing schedules, obtain quotations, making payments and the monitoring of external contractors and materials in line with business objectives and ensuring effective management of performance of external contractors within agreed budgets and service standards.

 

The post holder(s) will be liaising with many stake holders including the planning department, English Heritage, local residents, internal agencies/colleagues, contractors and external consultants……

 

The post holder(s) will have some experience of dealing with financial affairs, such as interrogating, reconciling and paying any services related invoices and be a confident user of IT packages to record, monitor and capture financial expenditure as well as management of system-based reports.

Role Responsibilities:

Responsible for assisting the Head of Capital Projects in the delivery of the Council’s Capital Planned Maintenance Programme, ensuring industry’s best practice is adopted including scoping specifications, tendering works, evaluating bids and ensuring robust contract and monitoring processes are in place.

 

You will:

  • Understanding specifics of client’s needs for capital and planned maintenance investment and infrastructure and providing the intelligent client link to ensure high standard of service is received from the Council’s construction partners. 
  • To support, steer, improve and act as the dynamic lead for all aspects of the management of projects and ensure value for money, drive project delivery, appropriate cost controls and payback periods are in place before commissioning projects.
  • To ensure all aspects of regulatory compliance and probity are adhered to, including review of H&S plans and that works adhere to the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations (CDM) 2015, Equality Act 2015 and the Council’s Standing Orders. .
  • To support in the consistency of delivery of projects of the corporate planned maintenance programme, ensuring cutting edge strategy to ensure defined objectives of the funds available including reporting to Directors and Members too. 
  • To develop and establish a centre of excellence in project management customer and supplier relationship management and construction procurement.
