The Financial Assessments and Benefits (FAB) service is all about ensuring that Adults’ Health & Care service users know how much it will cost them and what welfare benefits they may be entitled to claim. The smooth running of this service is dependent on the accuracy, efficiency and professionalism provided by our friendly admin team.

You’ll play a vital role delivering great customer service using your excellent written and telephone skills and by being able to work to a high standard of accuracy and attention to detail.

By using up-to-date digital technology, you’ll be responsible for contacting service users, booking appointments with our visiting officers, maintaining service user files, processing and communicating financial assessment information, and generally providing admin help and support to the visiting officers.

Job Purpose:

Working within the team of Support staff to administer a comprehensive financial assessment service. From the receipt of a referral from Adults’ Health & Care case workers, you will be booking appointments for visiting officers, processing the completed statement of financial circumstances forms and providing confirmation of relevant financial assessments.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Working with colleagues in response to queries through a range of channels including telephone calls, emails and letters, referring more complex issues in the first instance to the Assistant Team Manager
  • Setting up and maintaining service user files (paper & electronic), recording progress at all stages
  • Dealing with completed Statement of Financial Circumstances forms to enable the processing and confirmation of accurate financial assessments
  • Assisting in the verification of reassessments during annual reviews and following  policy or legislative changes
  • Monitoring Visiting Officer safety
  • Working with a range of computer programmes such as Excel, Word, Outlook and internal care/finance systems
Role Requirements:
  • Sound educational background, at least to GCSE grade A-C / 9-4 or equivalent. To be demonstrated by a minimum of five passes including Maths and English
  • Numeracy skills
  • Able to work to a good standard of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Work towards meeting performance targets as agreed with your line manager
  • Willing and able to receive appropriate training/supervision
  • Good communications skills (written and verbal)
  • Understanding the importance of delivering excellent customer service and have the ability to act as first point of contact for general enquiries
  • Can be flexible and positive with the demands of the business
  • Good IT skills and familiar with a range of software
  • Works well in a team
  • Previous administrative experience
  • Organised and able to prioritise, often to tight deadlines
  • Experience and/or knowledge of working in a customer service environment
