The Position
We’re seeking an experienced SAP BASIS Consultant.
With proven SAP BASIS skills working in a complex SAP landscape, coupled with strong project management and change management experience, you'll demonstrate excellent technical and communication skills.
You'll be required to deliver responsive and effective working relationships with colleagues and customers across the business and partner organisations, whilst maintaining the integrity and effectiveness of our SAP BASIS function.

Job Purpose:

Working within the SAP BASIS team, you will provide consultancy, support and technical development for the SAP systems, applications, and platforms that underpin our Shared Services.

 This is a senior role within the team and you will be expected to demonstrate leadership skills as well BASIS, Microsoft and Database experience and skills.

Integrating SAP applications and systems with third party applications, engaging with suppliers and partner organisations to design, implement, and support complex integrations.

The position holder will be expected to take ownership of key developments and projects, resolve business critical issues, ensure delivery of appropriate solutions in a timely manner, attend meetings on site and at customer locations, assist with recruitment, and provide guidance and mentoring to team members as appropriate.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Analyse and resolve service desk support tickets for SAP applications and related third party packages
  • Complete documented daily support tasks
  • Adhere to documented IT support and change management procedures and recommend process improvements
  • Own, manage and complete analysis, design and development of system Change Requests
  • Develop and implement integration between SAP and third party applications
  • Undertake assigned projects
  • Act as lead developer on projects
  • Manage application development plans and aid in development of system roadmaps
  • Problem-solve and respond to escalations, taking decisions on remedial actions to address issues, escalating where required
  • Mentor team members/provide training, guidance and support 
  • Attend and lead meetings with colleagues/customers/key stakeholders.
  • Prioritise workload/manage portfolios and project plans
  • Provide expert technical consultancy and advice to the business and to IT through research, business analysis, written papers, meetings and presentations
  • Manage and take ownership of the investigation and resolution of unplanned incidents
  • Manage communication with stakeholders appropriately 
  • Work flexibly as operational and project needs require

Role Requirements:

Essential

  • Significant SAP BASIS experience in Netweaver 7.4 and above
  • Experience working with Microsoft Windows Platforms
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2012 and above
  • Experience with Linux based Operating systems
  • Experience of working within a project environment 
  • Ability to manage and deliver outcomes within agreed timescales
  • Flexible approach to working patterns and the ability to prioritise and manage issues proportionately
  • Ability to work on your own initiative to solve complex issues, often with limited information
  • An aptitude for technical learning including self-directed learning
  • Effective communication & interpersonal skills including oral, written and presentation skills, influencing through information and advice
  • Ability to make decisions when appropriate
  • A minimum of 2 full lifecycle implementations

 

Desirable

  • SAP related training courses
  • A degree and/or formal industry recognised qualifications or relevant experience
  • Experience of managing a team or individuals
  • Experience of managing a project or technical upgrade

Working Conditions:

  • Display Screen Equipment user
  • Occasional home working supported
  • Working at different locations within HCC Castle Complex and on site with customers
  • Out of hours/weekend working required
  • Standby is a requirement
