Casual Driver / Warehouse Operative HCC63114

Job Details:

Salary Range: £9.62 – £9.78 per hour plus holiday pay
Work Location: County Supplies Logistics, Winchester
Hours per week: Various
Contract Type: Casual

Working in County Supplies warehouse in Bar End, Winchester assisting in picking and packing loads for onward delivery. Manual handling of heavy loads will be involved in this role. There will also be some van driving/delivery duties. All requisite training will be provided.

Job Purpose:

To provide a complete mail and goods delivery service including the carriage of letters, parcels and larger boxes, for all customers. Provide a high-level service which is reliable, efficient, and cost effective for existing and potential customers.

 

The drivers are the ‘front line’ ambassadors of HCC in regular contact with the majority of our customers and the general public, therefore it is essential they present a professional, courteous, smart and friendly image. During the average working day, the drivers spend a large proportion of their time in a lone working environment. The drivers use their contact with existing customers & potential new customers to promote the services available through County Supplies.

Role Responsibilities:

• Ability to arrange their own routes to ensure the most efficient and cost-effective way, route planning and route software.

• Deliver mail and goods to customers in a timely, cost effective and safe manner within legal, company, health and safety guidelines, and to assist within the warehouse and mail sorting operation as required.

• Change routes to take in to account special deliveries, road works, any added collection points and prioritisations, route planning and route software.

• Ability to provide a fast and efficient mail sorting system.

• Ability to sort large volumes of mail, distributions and goods in a time constrained environment.

• Knowledge of organisation changes and the ability to adapt to the change quickly.

• Provide a packing and collation service, for internal and external customers.

• Ensure compliance with Lone working and Duty of Care.

• Background in Courier, logistics, or fast-moving goods.

• Awareness of and compliance with health and safety and transport regulations.

• Excellent organisational skills, including time keeping.

• Ability to plan and prioritise own workload.

• A Driving Licence
