Job Purpose:

to attend to the individual needs of service users at the day centre and provide support while participating in activities.

Role Responsibilities:

  • To work within a small team to provide activities for older people using the day centre from the community.
  • To provide support in all aspects of personal care.
  • To actively provide positive encouragement and support to participate in various activities.
  • To ensure as a key worker a record is maintained of service users and all relevant risk assessments and care plans are in place and up to date.
  • Maintain an awareness of corporate and departmental equalities and health and safety policies and procedures and apply them in this job role.

Role Requirements:

  • Patience and good communication skills.
  • An understanding of the client group.
  • Physically able to assist with personal care and bathing using relevant equipment.
  • Trained and able to use equipment for moving and handling e.g. hoists and slings, standing aids and any equipment provided for use in a day service.
  • Writing skills (for daily records etc.)
  • Ideally an NVQ2 in Health and Social Care and some experience with Dementia although not essential the opportunity for training will be provided.

Working Conditions:

  • Manual handling of people and objects.
  • Working with vulnerable adults.
  • Participating in direct personal care.
  • Food handling
