An opportunity to work as part of a large SEN service where children, young people and families are at the heart of it's work and there is strong multi-disciplinary working with leaders who are highly ambitious about improving outcomes for children with SEND.

We are seeking an experienced professional to work within Hampshire County Council to join a newly formed management team and take on the role of Assistant SEN Manager Developments within the Children’s Services Department’s SEN Service. The focus of this post is to ensure that the service has a strong organisational infrastructure which enables it to meet its statutory duties. This post will also be responsible for leading programmes of work to help ensure the efficient use of high needs block resources.

You will be joining an outstanding Children’s Service which is committed and successful in meeting the needs of vulnerable children. You will have opportunities to work closely with a range of colleagues and be part of a creative and effective SEN management team.

With excellent organisational and programme management skills, you will possess a good understanding of Education Health and Care Plan processes and funding. Proven experience of successful financial and IT systems will be necessary as you will take a lead on the systems and process design for the Service.

Good communication skills, both oral and written, are essential for this position and as you will lead a proactive communications strategy which will help to manage contacts with the service. Knowledge and experience of SEN provision and how it is funded is also a requirement as you will oversee the business support team and payment systems for our education providers. You will work collaboratively with the Inclusion Commissioning Manager to oversee specialist place planning and will also be responsible for reviewing and extending the services’ post 16 and early intervention strategies.

With a commitment to partnership working and ensuring best outcomes for children and young people, you will take a leading role in the work between Education, Health and Social Care, to build upon the recent positive SEND Ofsted and CQC inspection and take the ambitions of the SEND reforms forward. This will particularly focus upon workstreams relating to demand management and effective use of resources within the High Needs Block Dedicated School’s Grant.


Additional Information:

Please note that you’ll cover an extensive area of Hampshire, therefore you must be able to meet the travel requirements of the role. Generally, this means that you will require a full driving licence and access to a car, but reasonable adjustments to this requirement will be considered to cater for a declared disability.
