Bird Aware Solent engages with local communities to raise awareness of overwintering coastal birds within the three Special Protection Areas (SPAs) and aims to reduce disturbance to coastal birds through influencing the behaviour of visitors.  

 

We cover the coastline from Hurst Castle (near Lymington) in Hampshire to West Wittering in West Sussex and the Northern coast of the Isle of Wight, delivering an agreed programme of public engagement work at events, in schools and out on the coast.  

 

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual that has experience of working with people and dogs to develop dog initiatives that will help reduce disturbance using their specialist knowledge and experience. They will also have a deep appreciation of the strong relationship between dog owners and their dogs, and how best to harness this to implement positive change. The ability to work with a wide range of people and outside in all weathers is a must as the winter season is predominantly spent out on the coast engaging with members of the public.
