The Role:

Our main purpose is to enable adults with learning disabilities to engage in individualised, meaningful activities, with the aims of enhancing their quality of life and supporting them to be part of their local communities.

Romsey & Waterside Day Service provides a wide range of activities both within our large centre just outside Totton or in the local community. New Forest Community Link has the same ethos and high standards of support but operates from a much smaller unit in New Milton. Copthorne Nursery in Fawley provides vocational training in horticulture and therapeutic outdoor activities. An interest and some skills in horticulture or gardening would be advantageous for any candidate interested in working at this site. Successful applicants will be based at one of the three units above but expected to work at the other sites on occasion as required.

You will support people in a person-centred manner, to engage in a variety of activities, either in the community or at one of our units. You will demonstrate care, respect, and sensitivity to people who need help with things like personal care, eating and drinking, mobility & communication. Our service users have varying needs including those associated with physical disabilities, chronic health conditions and autistic spectrum disorders. Some people are supported on a 1 to 1 basis due to having complex support needs including positive support with managing challenging behaviours.

You may have relevant previous experience, but more importantly you will be committed to enabling people to enjoy full, active lives and will embrace our core values of resilience, accountability, working well with others and providing person centred support. You'll be a strong team player, a good communicator and have basic IT and recording skills. You will have a “can do” approach in supporting service users with activities of their choice including swimming. Our comprehensive induction programme will provide all necessary training. All applicants must be double vaccinated against Covid. 19 prior to commencing their employment.

We welcome applications from those looking for full-time or part-time hours.
