Salary Range: £32,752 - £36,862 per annum, plus an additional £3,000 per annum pro rata.

The Role:

Frimley Park Hospital have an opportunity for a Senor Practitioner with drive and commitment to join our fast paced, multi-disciplinary team, working at an outstanding CQC rated site.

In this varied and challenging role you'll work with both Health & Social Care colleagues to provide excellent Social Work services.  

You'll have a focus on leading and managing care managers and social workers as well as managing your own small but complex caseload.  You’ll also have shared responsibility for leading and managing within the wider team, including supporting our duty function.  You'll be expected to deputise for the Team Manager on occasion, as well as assist in the strategic planning and delivery of the service in line with care governance principles.

A fully qualified Social Worker, you’ll have experience as a practitioner in areas such as Safeguarding, complex case work, resource allocation and funding.

The post has a requirement to work at weekends on a rota basis.

Role Responsibilities:


  • To manage own small caseload of complex cases



  • Recording of complex case information within departmental guidelines
  • Reviewing waiting list (R & A / O.T.) for prioritisation and screening


Representing / Consultation

  • Representing Team Manager in strategy meetings
  • Chairing of meetings to discuss professional issues
  • Authorisation of referrals when Team Manager absent. Acting as first point of reference
  • Having input in financial discussions over funding from adaptation budget


Supervision / Organisation

  • Contribute to supervision of individual members of the team (particularly higher grade SW / OTs or Main Grade undertaking progression criteria
  • Briefing team, reviewing cases daily
  • Assigning tasks to team members (usually under guidance from Team Manager)


Corporate and statutory initiatives – equalities / health and safety / e-government / sustainability           

  • To ensure that all casework is managed within appropriate codes of practice, statutory / departmental guidelines
Role Requirements:

Essential Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • You must be a qualified Social Worker or Occupational Therapist
  • You must be HCPC registered
  • Client sector focussed and team player
  • Demonstrate ability to work collaboratively
  • Ability to direct teams of subordinate professionals and support staff
  • Good working knowledge of appropriate legislation
  • Experience of social services setting in higher grade position
  • Excellent assessment and supervision skills
  • Good track record of service development


Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Experience of sharing the supervision of a team with Team Manager
  • Overview of all supervision and information sharing with Team Manager
  • Expertise in associated areas (e.g., court work or moving & handling issues)
  • Involvement in defining SW / OT responsibilities
  • Ability to sign off cases
  • Encouraging a team in their continuing professional development
