The Role:

If you are passionate about making a positive difference to the lives of people with learning disabilities, this is an exciting opportunity to join our supportive, friendly, caring service. You will be valued and work as part of team where you will receive regular supervision, have the support of your Team Manager and colleagues and have opportunities to expand your skills and knowledge.

As part of our continued drive to improve services for people living in Hampshire with Learning Disabilities, and their carers, we have an opportunity for a Peripatetic Qualified Social Worker or Senior Social Worker within the learning disabilities service. You will support our community teams based at our hubs in Basingstoke, Eastleigh, Havant and Totton, initially supporting the North West team for the first six months. These are high performing, highly committed and extremely supportive teams.

Our priority is to protect the most vulnerable and to be as efficient as possible, whilst utilising the opportunities afforded by closer working with partner agencies, working proactively to encourage independent and safe living within the community. We actively collaborate with other agencies to put people of Hampshire at the heart of decision-making. We understand the demands and emotional challenges of the job. That's why we provide our team with a positive, safe and supportive working environment. Alongside this we offer regular supervision, mentoring and Continuous Professional Development opportunities.

As a qualified and experienced Social Worker or Senior Social Worker, registered with Social Work England, you will need strong interpersonal and organisational skills. You will need to travel independently across the county to meet with individuals and carers to assess needs, formulate outcomes and undertake reviews using a person-centred and strength-based approach, designed to provide meaningful choice and promote wellbeing. You must be able to work autonomously, prioritise your work and respond flexibly to competing demands.

An excellent working knowledge of legislation and current policies is required. Social Workers in the team are required to undertake various duties to include; assessments under the Care Act 2014, mental capacity assessments, reviews of funded care and safeguarding work.

Due to the nature of the role you will be required to travel to various locations within Hampshire, and it is essential that you have a current drivers’ licence and access to a reliable vehicle on a regular basis.

If you have a sound understanding of adult social care and a commitment to delivering a high-quality service, we would love to hear from you. In return for your dedication to our service users, we offer a commitment to your continued development and wellbeing, alongside a competitive benefits package.
