Hampshire Equipment Service (HES) are looking for conscientious dynamic staff that can help to change people lives by delivering and installing equipment into people’s homes across Hampshire.

Hampshire Equipment Services deliver and install equipment to assist people with disabilities and enable discharge from hospitals throughout Hampshire.  We are looking to recruit staff to cover the Southampton (East) area.  As part of a very busy team, you will be responsible for the delivery, installation and collection of medical loan equipment/aids for daily living. 

It is essential that you have a full driving licence. You’ll need to be highly organised, with good communication skills and confident prioritising a busy workload.

Please note the office is based in Lister Road Industrial Estate, Basingstoke but HES drivers can be asked to deliver/install across Hampshire. A vehicle is provided; therefore, you must have parking facilities.

Job Purpose:

To ensure that medical loan equipment & aids for daily living are delivered /installed as quickly as possible. Enabling people to remain independent within their own homes, reducing care packages, preventing hospital admission and enabling rapid discharge. To demonstrate to service users and their carers the operation of specific items of equipment e.g.; fully profiling hi-lo beds, pressure relief products

Role Responsibilities:
  • Delivery/Installation and collection of aids and equipment
  • Schedule daily workload by contacting service users, service user representatives, carers or professionals, ensuring that the deliveries/installations minimise disruption to the service and its recipients, whilst ensuring that infection control procedures are adhered to.
  • Working with colleagues  to schedule joint visits to deliver heavy or awkward items.
  • Loading and organising your vehicle to  ensure that all equipment is safe, secure and does not exceed the vehicle capacity.
  • Change schedule to accommodate urgent discharges - contacting the recipients of pre arranged deliveries to advise of change.
  • Deliver and install equipment in service users’ homes.
  • Deliver and Install  pressure relieving  mattresses.
  • Demonstrate to service user and carers the correct operation of  equipment.
  • Collection of equipment ensuring that all collected equipment is bagged, stored and handled according to the equipment service infection control procedures.
  • Ensure that all equipment issued is fit for purpose and any equipment that is defective is repaired or disposed of in accordance with the equipment service guidelines. Ensure all equipment held in stores and vehicles is accounted for and secure at all times.
Role Requirements:
  • Full driving licence
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to prioritise / schedule own workload
  • Able to demonstrate a flexible attitude to the work environment
  • Able to demonstrate the ability to work effectively within a team
  • Able to demonstrate knowledge of Health & Safety at work
  • Ability to apply ‘common sense’ to day to day problem solving
  • Commitment to attend staff training and participate in own development through supervision and performance development
  • Responsible for regular maintenance, cleaning and day to day security of the vehicle issued.
  • This post includes participation in the on call  weekend and bank holiday rota during office hours- standby payment and overtime applicable. Frequency is approx. 6 times per year
