We are currently for Summary Justice Clerks, based in Kings Worthy. We are looking to fill multiple vacancies. 

The key accountabilities for the role include

Deal with correspondence and process telephone calls in a professional and timely manner

Liaise with and provide guidance to internal and external individuals, departments, agencies and companies

Accurately input and update information onto various databases within the unit.

Interrogate the different databases to deal with queries

To generate standard and non standard documents

Carry out general administrative duties including dealing with incoming and outgoing post

Adhere to Service Level Agreements within the Summary Justice Unit

To provide cover to other sections as directed by the Summary Justice Team Leader

Bar criteria for progression from scale 2 to scale 3:

Deemed competent by manager to perform range of duties within the section

Attend and successfully complete a PNC names or vehicle course

Good attendance record ie below force cause for concern trigger point.  If it is proposed to progress through the bar with a higher level of absence, approval must be obtained from the head of HR.

Job Purpose

In this role you will perform a range of clerical and administrative tasks providing an efficient delivery of service across the range of summary justice


Safety Camera - Use a range of video and digital photography equipment to facilitate the accurate extraction of evidence from film sequences and to accurately enter the result into a database in order to initiate procedures contained in Road Traffic legislation

Highlight cases where suspected criminal or prevarication offences exist

Magistrates Input - Interrogate and update RMS to raise prosecution occurrence to commence prosecution procedures including the preparation of summons Prepare Production Orders requesting her Majesty’s’ Prisons to produce prisoners for court hearings

Process Not Served Summons enquiries

Non Prosecutions

Collision Records - Deal with requests for accident reports and charge for documents sent

Provide accident statistics interested parties including Home Office

Out of Court - Process traffic and disorder fixed penalty notices and deal with enquiries.

Check out of court disposals have been processed correctly

When offenders do not comply with conditional cautions prepare and submit paperwork to CPS for advice

Essential Qualifications

 Educated to QCF Level 2 (3-5 passes) OR work experience deemed to have brought the postholder to a comparable level.

Essential Experience

Experience working in a busy office environment. 

To be computer/keyboard literate and a competent keyboard user
