Salary Range: £18,501 upwards depending on role (Police Staff Scale 2 through to Police Management)

Work Location: Various across Hampshire

Hours: Part and Full Time (max 37 hours per week) plus ad-hoc

Contract Type: Temporary

Who are TempForce?

 

TempForce is an internal staffbank set up within Hampshire Constabulary to cover temporary assignments of up to 6 month in length.  Driven by current and future demands, individuals registered with Tempforce can be called upon to assist Hampshire Constabulary on a short to long term basis either on a full time, part time or ad-hoc basis. 

The roles vary but the most popular requests are for PSI's (Police Staff Investigators), Coordinators, Administration, CCTV Investigators, Police Contact Enquiry Officers, MA's (Management Assistants), PA's (Personal Assistants), Resource Management Assistants, Analysts, Project Management and Finance roles to name a few.   We do receive a wide range of exciting roles in addition to this list. 

TempForce can be a good way of entering Hampshire Constabulary to help progress a future career with the force.  Due to the wide range of roles we have on offer, TempForce can help you get a feel for the environment and, opportunities to use different systems and meet a range of people.

We are interested in a range of applications from people with or without a police background, those with investigation experience both within and outside the police, through to people who have specialist police skills or experience gained during previous employment within the police service.  Don’t be put off from applying if you have not worked for a police force before as we welcome people from a range of background who can bring skills and experience to us.

If you have been a student and have some work experience, please feel welcome to apply as you will have skills that can be deployed into roles.

Work will be available at a variety of locations across the Hampshire and Isle of Wight force area according to operational need.  The exact location of any work will usually be confirmed at the time the work is offered.  The most popular areas of assignment placement are Basingstoke, Winchester, Eastleigh, Southampton, Fareham and Portsmouth.  Working hours may also vary, and will also be discussed when the offer of work is made. Sometimes there will be several days notice of an assignment starting, but on occasion the need will be urgent and there will be very little notice.

TempForce is suitable for individuals who wish to retain maximum flexibility about when they work and for how long.  However, it is not suitable for those who require a guaranteed income because there is no obligation on the part of Hampshire Constabulary to offer work to an individual.  Equally, individuals are free to accept or decline work that is offered to them.

Essential Experience

 

  • Experience of working in an office environment and undertaking a variety of clerical and administration duties
  • IT literate with a working knowledge of word processing, email, and spreadsheet packages
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to be able to deal with a variety of enquiries in a professional and accurate manner
  • Able to prioritise and organise work to meet deadlines, and work unsupervised when necessary
  • Investigation experience
