Applications are invited from qualified Sergeants with the following experience, drive and personal qualities:


Leadership skills demonstrating a supportive and intrusive approach to supervision that drives high performance through effective management of individual and team wellbeing and development

Effectively and proportionately able to assess and manage risk to ensure high quality investigations that deliver excellent victim care and satisfaction

Excellent communication skills and an ability to engage with colleagues at all levels

Job Purpose

As an Inspector you will be responsible for leading and motivating a teams within a district or area of business. Through authentic and visible leadership you will focus your team on protecting the vulnerable and preventing offending whilst maintaining the highest standards of professionalism. You will work with colleagues and partners to create engaged, confident communities that enable the force to meet both community and force needs through the effective identification and management of threat, risk, harm and vulnerability. Enthusiastic and passionate about public service you will be committed to enhancing the wellbeing and resilience of your team to drive performance improvements and deliver quality outcomes for the public.

The promotion process will continue in line with the framework developed last year, officers considered ready for the next rank will be supported by their line management for the promotion process.

Essential Qualifications


To be qualified a Sergeant must hold OSPRE parts one and two under the old system or a valid legal exam pass at NPPF step 2.  Please note that the legal exam is only valid for a period of 5 years.
