About Us:

The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea is a vibrant place to live and work. We want to be the best council and are committed to supporting environmental health and safety within the Borough in every way we can.

The Role:

As Environmental Health Technical Officer, you will support the whole of the Environmental Health service in a plethora of ways. This will include processing Food Registrations under the Food Safety Act 1990, managing notices served under sections 60 and 61 of the Control of Pollution Act, maintaining the Environmental Health Archives, and preparing a range of notices across the Environmental Health teams (for example Housing Act and Public Health notices). You will also manage online training and candidate coordination (including invoices and payments) and work closely with the Director of Finance to manage budget spending and income.

This is an office-based role with one or two days per week working from home. You will be joining our friendly, experienced, and open team who always hit their targets. We meet regularly, hold weekly 1-2-1 sessions, and remain in constant dialogue with each other.

Please refer to the Job Description for more information.

About You:

We are looking for someone with common sense, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work on their own initiative. We are open to a range of qualifications, training, and experience as long as you can learn quickly and get the job done.

You should possess excellent communication skills, as you will be interacting with people across all kinds of departments, from Food Safety to Pest Control and Public Health. We must get our work done promptly, so you’ll need to be able to work independently, effectively, and with accuracy.

You will have previous administration, data-inputting or electronic record-keeping experience, and a good knowledge of GDPR would be an advantage. The role also requires excellent keyboard skills, a working knowledge of database and computer packages and good literacy and numeracy.
