About Us:

Administer the data that makes Council spending on services possible.

At the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, we put local people at the heart of everything we do. We aim to spend the money we raise from council tax and business rates wisely, on services that really deliver for our local communities. The professional administration of payments is a vital part of that process – and that is where you come in.

The Role:

As Property, Finance and Admin Officer, you will be a key member of a multi-tasking team. You will be responsible for the prompt and efficient administration and allocation of council tax and business rates payments to the Council. You will also play an active part in maintaining our database of the properties that pay council tax and business rates. By creating, updating and deleting properties as appropriate, you will make sure we have an up-to-date and accurate list.

This is a very analytical role, as you will need to decipher reports from a variety of sources and understand the data they contain. Your duties will range from inputting and reconciling information received from the Valuation Office Agency, through to actioning a wide range of Town Planning applications, decisions, and appeals. Along the way, you will communicate with colleagues in diverse departments and at the Valuation Office.

As a member of our team, you will enjoy the advantage of working on a hybrid basis. You will discover a working culture where professional growth is encouraged and supported, with scope to develop into different departments if you desire.

About You:

While some understanding of council tax and business rates legislation would certainly be an advantage, this is not essential if you are able to develop this knowledge in the role. You definitely need to demonstrate excellent attention to detail, along with the keyboard skills necessary to perform data entry. You should also bring to the role some experience of dealing with customer queries and applications in writing, over the phone and in person. We expect you to be well organised, with the ability to manage and prioritise your own workload effectively.

In return, you can look forward to a package that includes a competitive salary, a high-quality pension scheme, and generous annual leave plus bank holidays.

Please apply online explaining how you meet the requirements set out in the person specification and job description. We reserve the right to extend or close this vacancy early without warning subject to the volume of suitable applicants.
