Hours: Full time 37 hours per week

Salary: £24,921 to £29,874 per annum full time + shift allowances (Scale 4/5)

We are recruiting for three Safer Roads Mobile Safety Camera Enforcement Officers within our Safer Roads Unit to help keep roads safe and reduce casualties.  Our roles are based on the Isle of Wight (Shanklin), Netley (Southampton) and Whitchurch (near Andover and Basingstoke). 

 

We are looking for a highly motivated self-starter who is able to work for long periods with minimal supervision often in remote locations with the ability to dynamically Risk assess and problem solve issues that may involve Home Office Type Approved enforcement equipment and IT devices.  You must be able to manage your enforcement Portfolio to ensure you are at the right locations at the right time to meet peak demand.  Candidates will to be required to be flexible in order to react to force requests to support operations in local areas, such as tackling anti-social driving, this may include changing shifts at short notice.

 

You will need to have a basic understanding of IT including Microsoft applications, and training will be provided in the use of business specific software. Candidates will be expected to operate CCTV, Body Worn Video cameras and force radios along with setting up speed enforcement equipment within manufacturers and Home Office Guidelines.  Knowledge of operating photographic equipment will be an advantage.

 

Part of the role is representing the force at local events, being a visual presence, building relations with local communities through meetings and events within the area you will cover.

 

There may be times where you have direct contact with members of the public which arise as part of the role you are performing, this could be due to where you park and what you do or ask for advice and guidance.  Due to this, you should be confident and professional when you are speaking with members of the public and confident to be able to de-escalate situations should they develop.  We will provide full accreditation and training to give you the best tools to approach these situations.  You will be driving a marked police van and a full manual driver’s licence is required in order for you to do this. 

 

We operate an 8 week rolling shift pattern with.  The shifts will include 7:00am to either 15:00 or 16:00 and 11:00 to 20:00 including one weekend in four.
